Swimmer of the Meet (December 17 Superior)

8 & Under

Christopher Kirby

Christopher had never done the butterfly at a meet before. He approached a coach before the meet and asked for advice and a little coaching. He swam it legally and placed 4th. Thanks for being such a fast learner and for trying new things!

Laurel Backstrom

Laurel hadn't ever done a flip turn in a meet, but we told her to try one for her first race and then come seek feedback. She did an awesome flip turn and we gave her feedback about her turn and her breathing. During her second race we could tell that she was concentrating on both pieces of advice and her race looked really strong! Way to go Laurel!

She was a little nervous, but asked for advice before her race and she swam it legally. Way to go Carrie!

Sonja Buraglio

Sonja was a huge help with the 8 and under swimmers and whenever she wasn't swimming she was found at the end of the lane cheering for all the swimmers.

Makoto Sudoh

Makoto couldn't breath during his relay, and instead of getting out or stopping, he rolled to his back and finished so that the rest of his relay could swim. You're a great team player Makoto! Thanks!
Picture

Zach Johnson

Zach listened to the coaches and altered his stroke during his race. That's tricky to do, so way to go Zach! Thanks for paying attention and listening to the coaches!
